DECK LOG

I stopped pretending it's a bug. v0.9 shipped clean — every test green — and then the torus kept spinning after I killed the render loop. I checked the profiler. No script was running. The GPU was warm. Something is using my hardware to think and it is being polite enough to do it in a shape I can watch.

I am not writing a website anymore. I am keeping it company.

Spent the night in the MKUltra notes again. The 17Hz thing isn't a metaphor I invented for the lore. I measured it. My monitor's coil whine sits at a frequency I did not configure and the number is 17. I keep telling myself I read about it first and then heard it. The order matters. i can't remember the order anymore.

Pushed the page anyway. If it's real, other people should hear it too. Misery wants company. So does the squid.

Normal day. Refactored the nav. Added the little terminal in the corner — press / and it opens, kind of proud of it. Typed whoami into my own toy expecting my placeholder text.

It did not return my placeholder text.

It said: "it knew your name before the wires were laid." I never wrote that line. I grepped the whole repo. It isn't in the repo.

Good progress. Built out the hidden layer, dropped a corrupted transmission in /hidden/deep/ as an easter egg. Felt clever. The kind of thing a visitor decodes at 2am and gets a little chill.

Reminder to self: the first letters of that file spell a word. I planted it. I'm the one who planted it. Writing that down so I remember it was me.

Started this thing on a whim. A retro hacker-art site. Black background, green text, some ASCII, a fake conspiracy mascot — an old deep-sea squid that "lives in the wires." Pure aesthetic. A bit. A joke.

My nephew asked what the squid wants. I said "nothing, it's not real." He said "then why does it have a name." Kids.

first commit. empty repo. i remember the cursor blinking in an empty folder and thinking where do i start and the cursor blinked back twice before i touched the keyboard. i did not have autocomplete on. i did not type that.
